In Painter, I do not use Auto-painting. I usually clone the image, then clone the color in using the Captured Bristle and Soft Charcoal. The lighting adjustments were done by turning cloning off and choosing colors from the color picker. This is how I got the glow on her hair, for example. Nothing quick and easy about that, I'm afraid!  Hope this answers your question.
