In this continuing series, this week you'll learn how to paint straight hair.

In this continuing series, this week you'll learn how to paint straight hair.

In Part 3, we painted the larger areas of the face. This week, I’ll show you how I paint straight hair. For this, I switch to the Smeary Flat variant in the Oils category. With the right settings (high opacity, low resat), this brush does a remarkable job with straight hair. If you’re following along, just finish painting in the background first, and then you’re ready to continue with this lesson.

  • The video is similar to this article we published a year or two ago. You may want to read it first.
  • The photo I work on in the video is available here, for free. Download it and you can follow along.
  • Here is a short PDF guide for this series. It’s a sort of cheat sheet. You can refer to it when you’re working on your own projects. Download the latest version for this week’s additions.

I found some lovely creations on this site. I had no idea that you can work magic on a picture by using the Corel program. I had Corel years ago it came with a very old computer back when… I love that Corel has kept up with the times, my old program didn’t give these stunning results. This program really does create lovely artwork. The hair texture is so soft that it looks like it could float in a mild wind. The colors are variegated like human blond hair. The texture is fine. I feel the illusion of every hair rich with shades of cream, yellow and gold. This is a beautiful subject model. She makes the presentation even more striking by her good lucks and charming pose. Up until I found your site I had given up on creating classic art imagery by using a computer imaging program. My hat is off to you all the hair modification tutorials are amazing art tools.
